Carice Kao is Taiwanese photographic artist, and has been creating for six years. In the difficult environment of the development of Taiwan's art world, Kao is doing regular photography work whilst taking time to shoot and create.
Much of Kao’s work explores issues of self-development, such as the awareness of self-word organization, or the oppressive view of sexuality in traditional societies. For Kao, photography is like a tool with which to draw, except that this tool can describe her problems faster in images. Therefore, most of the images are shot indoors, because one has to go deep into the heart in order to constantly be aware of self-problems through the images. Through shoots, she explores the problem of her own spiritual growth. Sometimes, it's best to just get creative with her stylist Leann Chen or her frequent collaborator, model Freyia Hsu.
Selected exhibitions include: Cluster London Photography and Print 2022 Fair, OXO Tower, London, UK (2022); 沒人肖像攝影聯展, Leisure Cafe, Taiwan Taipei (2021); Wonder Foto Day, Huashan1914. Creative Park, Taiwan Taipei (2017).
