E unha Kim was born and is based in the Republic of Korea. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art from Suwon University and currently works as an installation artist. The media she chooses to create art from oil painting to fabrics. Driven by the concept of abandonment and the idea of sustainability, her latest project was based on a process of repurposing clothes that were thrown away and thus, unnecessary in her eyes. She combined those unnecessary clothes to recreate images of things that are tempting to one’s eyes, redefining the utility of those clothes and aiming at securing their longevity.

The message she would like to convey with this artwork is to project the problems of the fast pace of modern societies and the everchanging fashion which leads to the overconsumption of citizens around the world and by analogy could reflect the abandonment that people who fail to keep up with it, experience. By turning these abandoned clothes into fast food or junk food, she aims to bring this selection of futile “unnecessary” items to the attention of the audience in a new form and to initiate a dialogue on the relativity of pleasure, utility and beauty.
