Choi Nari creates inventive pop art that is playful aesthetically, yet thought-provoking thematically. Faceless, cartoon-like figures jostle with animated skeletons to claim their space amid the electric backdrop of bright block colours and striking prints. At times deliberately claustrophobic, the inclusion of symbols of capitalism and pop culture makes reference to the inescapability of our commercialised world.
There are four people grabbing waste of the person in front of them. They don’t know what they are looking for, what they want. They are just chasing people right in front of them. I hinted censure of the society in this painting. Guess what is ahead of them.
