The idea of the maze in my work is a reflection of the fragmented, disorienting way that we take in and share information in the digital age. The title ‘Red Thread III’ refers to Theseus’ red thread that he used to escape the mythological minotaur in the labyrinth. The surface is a multi-layered digital and handmade collage, suggesting disorienting space and depth. The image itself is made up of cut-up and collaged minimal digital photographs. Creases and bubbles in the surface are hallmarks of the handmade, echoing the noise and pixelation in the digitally-created shapes.
