Curator's Eye

Lalita Kapilavai has worked with teachers from the Nepalese and South Indian Tanjore painting traditions. As part of her inspiration, she has been researching the relationship of the sounds of the natural world and classical Indian musical notation. Arising from this are a series of paintings that draw on the raised gold with inlaid polished stone and glass. The paintings depict images from the Hindu tradition with a joyful colour palette.
