Description
This painting draws focus to the 60s architecture reminding me of my hometown, whilst mimicking the ways a Sari is dressed in Gujarati culture. The piece was inspired by a passing comment from someone I knew, they were trying to describe the colour of an object so they said ‘the same colour as Imogen’. Choosing to go with a completely different colour to any natural skin tone, I used the colour blue as a way of regaining my choice in how I want to be represented.
Medium: Oil, ink, lino print and sari on canvas
