Twin Tiger Cubs

Curator's Eye

Immediately evident in these arresting photographs is Marie Jordan’s ability to expertly capture the play of light. Part of the series presented here are beguiling works shot on location in Kolmanskop, an abandoned town in the arid Namib Desert. Otherworldly and ethereal, celestial beams of light erupt from hidden corners, poignantly casting dramatic swathes of shadow against the faded ruins of Namibia’s dark colonial history.

These cubs were born and live in the wild, but in South Africa. South Africa wanted to help with the extinction of Tigers and have succeeded in a thriving population. These two cubs were waiting hungrily for Mum to arrive back from hunting. They have a habit of facing away from the sun which makes the photographs a little difficult but it was late in the evening and the sun was going down, which made it slightly easier. They were quite nosy and settled down close together to watch us while we watched them.
